We haven’t heard the official word on Varitek’s decision, but the news could still come later today. To clear up any confusion, MLBTR’s story yesterday that Varitek had exercised his option was a misinterpretation of Adam Hirshfield’s NESN.com report. There has been no official report that Varitek will return to Boston.

Hey Matty Hey, I’m glad you took the soft ball. Also I hope this is one guy that I do mush. I can not stand to see Varitek in any starting line up next year.  We’ve fallen behind the Yankees again and by no means is having Varitek on this team going to help. The Red Sox declided their option on you, don’t you realize you aren’t part of their 2010 plans? Varitek is like that boyfriend or girlfriend that just can’t let go and realize that it’s over. It’s over. I’m sorry. It was great while it lasted but your .222 batting average with RISP and .703 OPS is disgusting. I’m sure Charlie Moore’s fishing show would love to have you.
